About the Artists

Dave and Sherrie Moffitt

Sherrie was born and raised in northwest Arkansas. As a young girl she developed an interest in drawing and later took art classes in high school. She did not seriously pursue art until her children were grown. After trying several different mediums, she settled on oils because of the richness of the colors and the ability to blend more easily. She believes that art has given her a constantly renewed appreciation of the wonderful gifts that God has given us to enjoy.

The late Dave Moffitt was a retired firefighter for a volunteer and a paid department. He was a paramedic for 22 years. His medium was acrylic and he enjoyed painting wildlife which came from his love of the outdoors. He strived for realism in his paintings, believing that it is hard to improve on what God has created.

The works of the Lord are great... He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered... Psalms 111: 2 & 4

Unfinished

This unfinished work was Dave's last painting. In September 2014 Dave was diagnosed with cancer and began treatments. For nine months he battled the disease with his family and friends supporting him every step of the way.

He started this painting over the first two weekends in May 2015 at the Leslie Shupe Art School. He was not feeling well from treatments but he wanted to go. He wanted to do a still life because he had never done one and wanted to give it a try. He was not able to complete the painting due to his illness. Dave passed away June 19th, 2015.
